good work, keep it up

Well, if you like Oliver Kalkofe and his kind of humor (including his gramatics) you won't be disappointed. But it is much more.

There is a lot of slapstick in this film, the names of the characters speak for themselves, much of the humor is only evil and cynical.

I enjoyed this film last Monday in sneak and would like to recommend it to all fans of Oliver Kalkofe and Bastian Pastewka.

Hi!

I also can only recommend this movie - not only to fans of the (main) actors but even more to those who love the old Edgar Wallace-movies.
I think that several jokes cannot fully be understood without knowing them - the criminal Kermit itself is a hit but the joke works even better when you know the original movie-title "Der Frosch mit der Maske" (The Frog With The Mask).
What also pleased me very much was how some of the original characters have been imitated - behind Smeerlap I always saw Klaus Kinski, Oliver Kalkofe is a perfect mixture of Joachim Fuchsberger and Heinz Drache and Bastian Pastewka spreads the same charme as his "original" Eddie Arent.
This is not just kiddin' the old movies (as less as "Der Schuh des Manitu" is just kiddin' Winnetou, even if Pierre Brice still hasn't conceived it yet) - for me it is a loving hommage to these old movies.
And more over I'm glad to see that good German comedy is rare, indeed, but not dead!

Once there was a movie "Der Hexer", now there's "Der Wixxer".
And once there was a movie "Neues vom Hexer" - can we expect "Neues vom Wixxer"?
I would apreciate it very much!

Cheers

I'm always careful when german comedies are opening. First I didn't want to watch this one, because my fear was that is was too stupid. German hit-comedies are normally based on dumb-talking characters (like "Erkan & Stefan") or on very cheap toilet-and-sex-humor (like "Schuh des Manitu"). But "The Wixxer" does not fit in this categorie. It is a ingeniuos parody of the old "Edgar Wallace"-Movies. There is also a lot of satire (e.g. The evil Duke is smuggling girl-groups). And finally we've got the first german movie here, that dares to make fun of our dark german past. The character of the butler Hatler is a marvellous Führer-Parody. Most of the actors are "no real actors" but TV-Comedians, but they do a great job. I hope there will be a second "Wixxer".

quote Henryetta :"German hit-comedies are normally based on ... cheap toilet-and-sex-humor (like "Schuh des Manitu")"

I guess Wixxer = (Wichser = tosser or wanker) is toilet-and-sex-humor too.

reply

they should have given the movie another title
it's just so stupid when you try starting a conversation abotu a movie with a title like that

besides that, good movie, nothing too special, but good none-the-less

Not to mention Cockwood, Inspector Very Long, Inspector Even Longer, Smearlap (Abstrich), Rather Short and Ms. Drycunt.

well, saying the comedians aren't real actors isn't fair
they play countless roles in their shows

That's true but once they enter the stage of big screen movies other measures are applied. After all, they compete with "real actors" for the audiences, so why not compare them?

It was indeed one of the disappointments I experienced watching the movie that the entire cast with the exceptions of Pastewka and Herbst consists of non-actors and lacks acting talent. Nevertheless it's an okay movie, a good laugh and nice entertainment for an evening, but certainly nothing more than that. Some scenes are really good and so are some of the movie references but time and time again the film slips onto a lower level, on which you'll also find the general plot of the movie.

No must-see but a good choice anyway.

I enjoyed the movie very much and not only because I knew all the Edgar Wallace movies. Usually I don't like German movies, but this one was really worth it.
