to link it up... he says, the most memorial moment he had with the turkey, was the very moment before its first bite. the passion is merely wearing out after the first bite.
just like his own wedding, and his mother's death. I remember how hard it's to face the death of my beloved friends, but the sadness/shocking/passion to do sth.... is wearing out day by day. In the end, all you remember is the fact that, they are dead - regardless of how great your love is; so as the wedding, so as the funeral... so as the turkey.
he regrets asking his mum to throw away the turkey, can be rephrased as, he regrets asking to trash what he actually treasured most, which he never realized until he's grown up. it's like a nostalgia (about throwing the turkey away) maybe... while, on the other hand, he knew very well that, the sacred moment existed only in that very moment, this feeling (or passion, or sadness) has long worn out before the turkey was thrown away.
that's what I got from it...
maybe others got their own message... just dont kill me if mine are different from yours~~ :p
