The man's a genius - underappreciated but one of the few Indian mainstream directors whose work will last.

He has a lot of talent, and his earlier movies were superb. Iruvar is one of the best films ever made.

But I find that his most recent films are pretty disappointing. KM wasn't too bad, but Yuva/Ayitha Ezhuthu, for example, is almost nauseating.

You know, not everyone underappreciates him. He does have a lot of fans, especially among the arthouse movie-watching class of people.
