Finger Pointing Man

I just watched "Journeys With George" for a second time right after watching "Unconstitutional: The War on Our Civil Liberties", and noticed this time around that there's a man in the first 20 minutes or so of "Journeys" that raises a pointed finger within inches of then Governer Bush's nose in a very strange manner and with an ominous expression on his face. The finger-man is then grabbed by Secret Service and dragged off. I noticed more clearly (probably because of watching Unconstitutional) that this man fit a certain racial profile. Does anyone know (or think they might know) who the finger-pointing-man was?

If you reach out to poke a presidential candidate in the face with your finger, with a dirty look, like you said, it won't matter what color you are. You'll be tossed every time.

reply

Hehehe -- I agree.... and rightly so. But I'm wondering if the finger pointing man is actually someone of significance, or who became significant following the events on 9-11.

reply

actually they werent secret service, they were his governor bodyguards from texas.

reply

The Secret Service doesn't allow anyone within close proximity of a protectee point or reach out to the protectee. Although the protectee can reach out or point to them. Just a rule the Secret Service has.

This guy gets it! Makes all the difference!

The finger pointing man was in fact expressing his disgust for Bush in a very unique way. I will not reveal his identity, but I can vouch that his racial profile has nothing to be read into and that he is a full blooded American.

Just saw it, liked it, and was disturbed by this moment. It was more than odd. This is the reason I looked up the documentary on imdb.com.

The 'finger-pointing man' actually grabbed onto Bush's hand during the handshake, and wouldn't let go. He was staring at Bush. The finger was WAY into Bush's personal space, and intended to provoke. There were very few people around, Bush was just smiling and saying 'hello' to people. This guy is very lucky that Bush was just one of many candidates at the time, and pre-9/11. If he did this to ANYBODY in a bar, he would be bounced (if he wasn't punched first). A passive-aggressive jerk, just knowing how close to push it without touching or laying hands on Bush.

It actually made me feel bad for Bush, and his poor wife. They were (and continue to be) public figures, shaking hands and open to brief encounters. Things like this remind me how cruel and horrible perfect strangers can be. The guy didn't have any purpose, other than to disturb. Clearly, it bothered me a lot.

Finger-pointing man appears to be of ethnic origin and Muslim. Finger pointing is considered a major insult, like showing the sole of your shoe, to Muslims. They are so backward and third-world, they don't understand that it is meaningless to enlightened Westerners. Especially ones that accept an open-hand to shake, in the universal expression of friendship. Just like a Muslim, shifty and untrustworthy!
