I wanted to beat the crap out of Sang-woo.

Up until that brat, Sang-woo, signed "I'm sorry" to his Grandmother, I wanted to beat the crap out of him. Pretty hard to watch the scenes where he is being so abusive to his kind Grandmother! I was so glad that at the end of the film he was remorseful and was corresponding with his Grandmother, writing that he missed her.

I LOATHED the kid for 98% of the movie, but yeah, the ending is pretty good and at least leaves you with a good sensation after the whole thing.

I almost couldn't enjoy the movie because I wanted to spank the stuffing out of that selfish, spoiled, mean little snot. The grandmother reminded me of my own maternal great grandmother, who was a very traditional Jicarilla Apache woman who lived on the reservation all her life in a two-room house with no running water, (though it did have electricity) and dirt floors and who spoke no English. All her grandchildren and great grandchildren ADORED and respected her and would have protected her violently if anyone would have treated her poorly. The naughtiness of the boy in this movie was distracting and frustrating... even at the end, he couldn't muster even a slightly respectful or heartfelt gesture.
