How did Dunoir shoot... (spoilers)?

How did he shoot Jerome Van Haken ? We see them in a mirror. Then Dunoir holds a machine gun with a hand (!) and in the wrong side. What I understand the least is how come the machine gun fires in the opposite side of the cannon.
