The most anticipated movie this year... by me, at least

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

????????!!!! Hmmm, don't think so. I'd expect this movie to be very far removed from Lethal Weapon 2... and not just in budget terms.

I think Tony Martin is a comedy genius and I hope this movie underscores that. I'm a bit wary of his frequent partner, Mick Molloy (starring here in Bad Eggs) - who's a lot less of a talent in the writing department. Both did their best work as part of the 'D-Generation' comedy troupe, but Tony Martin definitely has the talent to achieve consistent success on his own.

Since D-Gen, Martin and Molloy have become known as a successful comedy team, due to their hit radio show of some 2 years. I think this partnership has both helped and harmed the opportunities for Tony Martin.

Molloy is often a surprisingly funny 'live' performer (as demonstrated on his infrequent appearances on TV's 'The Panel') and away from the script and direction of this movie, he may be quite good. I just feel annoyed with him for muddying the waters for Tony Martin both in television (the Mick Molloy Show which doomed any TV aspirations that Tony might have had at the time) and in film (Crackerjack - a sporadically amusing "smile-humour" comedy containing an almost identical cast to Bad Eggs).

Thank God this film sees Martin back in the driver's seat - should be very good and deserves to be very successful if the audience clears their mind of any connection to Molloy's 'Crackerjack'. I urge you to see it!

I saw it Saturday night and found it to be very amusing, cinema was nearly full and there were lots of laughs from the audience. Once again though, as with Crackerjack, I feel it will be suitable for Australian audiences only, others just wont get it.

No, I mentioned the bisque!

Well I for one am hoping it gets released here in New Zealand. I've been waiting for it for months now, and I'm not just saying that because Tony Martin is my brother either (well, half brother).

If he is your half brother couldn't he send you a copy? And when I say Australian audiences I don't mean to exclude New Zealanders - it is just that I don't think American audiences would get it!!!!

Yeah but I want to see it on the big screen.
