What do you consider the top Russian detective films or TV shows?

Are there any good dramas about vigilante "justice" and about the ethics of widespread private gun ownership?

How do they treat, and distinguish between, ideas of prestulplenie and zlodeyanie?

The Soviet Sherlock Holmes films were very good. They were my favorite take on the Sherlock Holmes character until the new Steven Moffat series. To be honest I find most Russian series to be kind of crappy. Crime and Punishment, the Soviet version from the 1960s is very very good, if you haven't read the novel it's a cat and mouse game basically between a murderer and a detective.

Brigada is a very good Russian series about gangsters, not necessarily detectives, but same genre I suppose.
