The ending made no sense to me SPOILERS!

Ok, so since Jackie made the deal with Sam she said that if Omar Epps character won she would give Sam his contract for 3 years. However, if Epps lost Sam would have to guarantee him a shot at the title after he fights 2 other guys.

If that was the case, and Epps was suppossedly the real deal (future champion) WHY ON EARTH would Sam want his boxer to win? Wouldn't he want him to loose so he could get Epps on his side? And that's exactly what happened right? She then shows up at the end in the restaurant and they all clap for her?

WHAT KIND IF NONSENSE IS THAT?

Ok, so she can probably get another fighter, but in the end she lost Epps. So she's now an "honorable" promoter? Is that IT? She learns her lesson to be nice? I just didn't get it, and I was actually decently interested in the film, up until Jackie's the meeting with Sam, which left me scratching my head (I even watched the scene a second time to make sure I got it right).

That was one big cop out ending if I ever saw one. Maybe it was meant to be "more mature" but somehow the film makers just didn't get that message across, in my view.

Wow, I didn't even realize Chales Dutton directed it. I like him too, but the end just wasn't done as well as it should have been.

It was definitely a bad ending, but I think it was supposed to be that Shaw got her a job so she could keep managing him. Or something dumb like that...

reply

Yeah, the ending was as weak as they come and pretty much DESTROYED this movie.

I was under the impression she SIGNED over Shaw...he happened to win, but he's STILL signed to the Leshoub's character. There's no way she can keep managing him (legally). It was a very cliché Hollywood ending.

i dunno, it was inspired by true events so maybe, just maybe something along those lines happened. As much as she wanted him back, she wanted him to win even more! No where did it say that she got him back as a boxer. Just that she got her long overdue respect as his manager. If you people would stop picking at a movie long enough to enjoy it, maybe you wouldn't be so confused. MAYBE. lol

reply

Yeah. By the end of the movie, Epps is a champion. It doesn't matter who he's signed or not signed with or who's managing him. She got him there. Case closed.
