TGIF Screwed Up Todays Youth!

It recently came to my attention as an adult that TGIF is the reason todays youth is so screwed up. Kids grew up watching seemingly harmless family friendly shows on ABC but all of the shows had underlying hidden messages through the characters.

Examples:

Family Matters: Mother Winslow was always horny. Steve crossdressed as Myrtle Urkel. Laura was a shallow b*tch she hated steve but when he changed to Steffan she was all over him. Myra and Mother Winslow are dead now and the family disowned Judy and she ended up in porn.

Step By Step: All Frank wanted to do was have sex. Cody was a stoner who lived in a van. Cody also wanted to get with Dana and thats incest in my book.

Boy Meets World: Harley and Frankie, the mafia anyone? Mr. Feeny was a pedifile, he lived next to the kid and some how managed to allwasy be his teacher.

Full House: 3 grown men lived in a house together Jessie eventually got married but we all know that at night Danny would sneak down to the basment and give it to Joey. Everyone except DJ dispised the neighbor Kimmy Gibler!!

Sister Sister: Everyone hated the neighbor hated Roger!!
(Dont Hate Your Neighbor)
Hanging With Mr. Cooper: Everyone hated the neighbor Tyler!!

I will cease my boycott of these shows only if ABC will send me a Carl Winslow bobblehead doll!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing that books isn't very popular. haha

If all shows was "perfect" do you think anyone would watch it and just b/c you know Danny went into the basement at night doesn't mean they showed it on tv and that means it didn't happen b/c its a fake show nothing else happens but what's showed on tv. Sorry to hurt you with that.

I'll assume you're making a bad joke here, because if you're serious, you're stretching things a bit.

I still don't see how these shows messed up today's youth. Those were basically family friendly shows. If anything tv show today are the ones screwing up today's youth.

If anything, the shows today are corrupting the youth.

Yes there were sexual innuendos on these television shows but they were only hinted at. The shows kids and teens watch today have a lot more violence, sex, and bad language.

The fact that you can even come up with these sick storylines just proves that you've been exposed to a little too much modern television.

i would hate being a kid today. all the cartoons (for the most part on non cable show, like abc) are all japanese/anime.... We were def. spoiled in the 80's/90's!

I agree! I remember Saturday and after school specials (for example "The Littles" and "The Mouse and the Motorcycle") in addition to the most awesome cartoons of all time!
I would add 70's too because I love Hanna Barbara & the Looney Tunes!

Not until I was in my teens and revisited the old shows did I get the sexual jokes/situations from Three's Company & other shows. These days, kids are handed sex on a platter during kid-type shows (on many stations that I will not name)

Anyway, the world went downhill after the loss of TGIF :)

Why does everyone always criticize shows for corrupting today's youth?

I am in my Mid 20's and watched pretty much every single show that was a part of TGIF and I don't have any issues that would be considered corrupted in any sense of the word.

The reason being is because I had parents that raised me and showed me what I should be doing and what I should not be doing. My actions and behavior was not determined based on what I saw in a show, eventhough the shows in these lineups over those years were not bad in the least when it came to issues of the day.

The reason and only reason why teens are corrupted and have issues is because parents of the day do nothing to raise their children.

My parents talked with me and told me what to do and what not to do. They helped with homework and allowed me to play with friends and were always watching and there for me. Today's parents do none of that whatsoever.

Parents of today pawn their children off to video games and the internet and going every place with their friends with no or little questions asked. They don't hold their children accountable for their actions. Most of them if they do ground them are only for a day or so when the punishment should be weeks if not more based on the actions the children do. They allow their children to run amuck and do anything and everything the child wants to do. They're no boundries whatsoever for the children of today.

They're also allowed to do whatever they want in school and can refuse to do homework and the like which is why this generation is without a doubt one of the least educated and laziest to ever exist and that has nothing to do whatsoever with these or any other shows.

Also, because of the level of education of today's children is why we get all the crap on MTV/VH1 and other shows that are of little to no value to anyone.

...like Hanna Montana (sp? dont care) has sluts trying to get into guys pants. I've seen it, I have baby sat within the last year. The basic story I saw was that this kid was being stalked by this slutty girl, who is his bestfriend's sister. It was way too sexual...

If you are Anti-American: Admit you are doing it just to be cool. Does it feel good to hate?

I agree with meangirls. Cartoons are horrible today. We had it made.!!

Your little rant here didn't actually prove your point or any point for that matter. None of the "sub texts" you have identified were actually present however you have taken quite a long time to twist the stories line so that the fit your negative outlook. You just sound uneducated and stupid. You are clearly from Alabama.

If your making a joke, then good joke. If your serious than get help! Really what you see in shows says more about you than the show itself. No tv shows mess people up, some shows just draw those who are already messed up towards them.

Congratulations on managing to waste EVERYBODY'S time that actually read this!

I hope you're simply failing miserably at trying to be funny, as opposed to writing something serious that you really believe. First off, most of the crap you mentioned wasn't even hinted at in the least (such as the bit about Danny sneaking in the basement on Full House), and at least half of it has no bearing on whether or not today's youth is screwed up. OK, so we all despised Kimmy Gibler, but exactly how does being supremely annoyed at a stupid TV character screw anybody up?

And on the VERY few examples you gave that actually hold some degree of merit (such as Cody being a stoner that lives in a van), these shows used such light innuendo that the only people who could ever pick up these "underlying hidden messages" are people that have already been exposed to whatever is being implied, thus are not being influenced.

And lastly, how exactly are these "underlying hidden messages" any different than the innuendo used on older shows prior to TGIF? Take Three's Company for example; that show had a hell of a lot stronger implications regarding sex than any of the shows you mentioned! You rant as if TGIF invented the use of half disguised sex and drug references, when it reality its been around (and in stronger forms) since long before TGIF.

The fact that you apparently see such strong and ridiculous innuendo just goes to show how screwed up you are, as opposed to today's youth.
