similarities to cloverfield

I don't know if it's just me but, when watching "Cloverfield" I couldn't help but think that the filmmakers look to this film for inspiration. Just I thought that some scenes (the liquor store scene and Beth's apartment) shared a strong resemblance to scenes in this film. I know, I might sound reaaal redundant right now, bu I didn't see any posts like this in the "9/11" boards, so just thought that anyone in these boars shared the same feelings, and if anyone does, please respond to this thread.

ok bye

yeah I was thinking the same thing! which is why i decided to look this film up again.

I beleive this is entirely intentional. It uses a lot of symbolic images form 9/11 possibly to conciously or subconciously summon the horror.

i think JJ Abrams or Matt Reeves definately looked at this film for inspiration for cloverfield. At the scene where the statue of libertys head goes thudding into the ground you see a building (dont know if it is the empire state or not) collapse as in the same way the world trade centre did, and also when the cement dust raged towareds them. Also in the scene in 9/11 where the first tower falls and they run towards the lift for cover really reminded me of cloverfield.

I just posted the exact same thing on the Cloverfield board, and then came over here to see what was being discussed.

I've seen 9/11 a few times, and the first time I saw Cloverfield I thought to myself that this is where the idea for the film came from. Watching 9/11 again the other day only reinforced it for me!

It's not uncommon however for things like to this to happen as 9/11 was one of the big defining moments of the modern age. Highly televised international disaster. This documentary provided so much of the after-the-event stock footage of 9/11 that I'm not suprised people sort of recognise it.

accordingly it's formed into a sort of communal set of images for disaster.

Not gunna lie I was thinking the EXACT same thing the whole time I was watching it
