How do you watch it?

How the heck do you watch it????

It is extremeley difficult to watch....although not "graphic" in the Hollywood sense of blood and gore, it is so much more upsetting because you know this is REAL LIFE. To hear those bodies crash is particularly hard, because each time you hear that awful noise you know another life has tragically ended.

But I have watched it, if only to gain an appreciation of the sacrifices made by ordinary people on that day.

One thing I've taught my children is that on that terrible day you can either focus on the evil that caused it, or choose to focus on the THOUSANDS of people that, without hesitation, rushed to help and risked their lives to do so. 9/11 to me illustrates the true depth of the goodness in the majority of people. And this documentary is a tribute to those that carry that goodness.

out of the numerous 9/11 documentaries made...this is the one TO watch.. as you are right there IN it... maybe its tougherfor Americans to watch it.. I just find it such an AMAZING documentary. Even if it was one made by sheer timing! being in the wrong place at the right time.

This one, and '102 Minutes...' are both excellent.

Agreed - they are the two I have on DVD.

I haven't and I won't ! I just can't get through it.

Nothing like a nighttime stroll to give you ideas.

I own this and have only managed to watch the whole thing once, and even then I wasn't sober

This is actually one that I feel like I have to watch every year. It's tough, emotionally, but...I just have to.
I was pleasantly surprised to find it returned to broadcast this year on CNN, with an update on several of the firefighters. I do have it on DVD, though.

It's hard to watch. This was the first thing I saw that helped me begin to process the day.

The original news footage if you recall was from a mile away and just showed smoke pouring from the site with news people speculating what was going on.

This got in there. It showed the monumental task of the rescue people and how helpless they felt. I felt like I understood the scale of the tragedy better, at least to extent the human brain can understand an event like this.

I feel like watching these documentaries each year helps remind me of those we lost, and of the resilience of the survivors and those who fought to survive, and the incredible bravery of the first responders

I watched it when it first aired. It helped me feel so much better about it. I was able to focus on the good that happened - how many people actually got out. Some of it is hard. Hearing that noise and knowing it's a jumper. Seeing the department priest praying, and knowing he'd be dead within the hour. Seeing the two brother firefighters talking when you know one doesn't make it back. But being inside, it helped settle my mind as to what it was like in there. As screwed up as it sounds, it made me feel so much better about it. It took my husband 15 years to watch it, but he feels the same way.
