disappointment

This movie was very disappointing to Navajos.
Most of the people that were cast in the movie
couldn't speak the language right, and many
of the people in the movie weren't even Navajo
at all.

I can certainly understand this complaint, but I feel it might be a bit unfair. How many Navajo actors are there (seriously, I don't know)? At least these are real native actors, not an Italian or whatnot trying to appear native as has happened so many times in the past. It is a shame if they couldn't speak the language properly, but I would still rather hear that, than no attempt whatsoever on the language (btw, i do not speak the language, so this factor did not detract from my enjoyment). I'm am heartened to see this film, as I think there are not enough movies dealing with native subject matter.

Do you have to be a Dane to play Hamlet? The same answer applies here.

If you are going to perform Hamlet in Danish, (even just a few lines) it would be a good idea to have actors who could speak actual Danish. The same disappointment applies here.

All the OP said was "This movie was very disappointing to Navajos." And you say, Most of the people watching it weren't Navajo, so get over it? I'm sure this did disappoint a lot of people for a lot of reasons. OP has a right to express disappointment. Brits get disappointed at Americans trying Brit accents and parts, vice versa. Didn't men to sound mean? Well, at least you didn't say "Get over it, chief."
