red stain?

I saw part of an episode today for the first time, seemed interesting, it was about a Banshee who got carried away in a coach. (what was with that coach annyway) at the end in a graveyard this guy strange turns around and there was this red stain on his back wich seemed to grow (looked like a bloodstain) did that have any significance?

Can't comment on the stain, but the Death Coach which carries away the souls of the dead is an old Irish legend.

Have you seen all the episodes yet?

*SPOLIER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T*
In one, Strange is in the washroom at their little HQ, and he takes his top off. On his back, there's a wound. It's basically where Asmoth attacked Strange with his claws when Strange tried to save his wife from Asmoth. You don't, however see that happen during the series, as it happened way before the pilot's events, and instead Strange tells Jude what happened to him and his wife.

It is never fully mentioned in the series but it is to do with the backstory. John Strange was a priest. He was implicated in the murder of his girlfriend and subsequently de-ordained. There was insufficient evidence to charge him with any wrong-doing so the case against him had to be dismissed. John knows he is innocent he also knows the real killer of his girlfriend is demon named Asmoth. He now devotes himself to hunting down demons, hoping ultimately to meeting and gaining his revenge on Asmoth. The fact that these demons walk amongst us could prove dangerous to the church (who deny all existence of demons) so Canon Black is installed to keep other people from believing what John Strange believes. The red stain on John's back is an injury he got when he fought Asmoth when trying save his girlfriend.
