I Really Hope That

I hope they will Turn Monk into a Television Movie series, like Columbo or Sherlock a few movies here and there.

reply

That would be fun. I'd watch it.

reply

I would love that, and I'd hope that Monk would have found another woman to love and who loves him.
He did Trudy's Daughter basically a step-daughter.
reply

True, but I was thinking a romantic relationship for him.

Hello Platinum!

Off topic, although I agree I'd like to see Monk find someone to love and be loved by. Just wanted to say hi and tell you I still intend to respond to your lovely post on TFS board. It requires more thought than I've been able to give lately, with so much going on in my life. Dashing off quickies like this is much easier for me, and I wanted you to know I appreciated your post and haven't forgotten :)

reply

Hi Catbookss! :)

No worries at all about TFS post! I completely understand as I'm in a very busy season of my life right now as well. The quick one or two liners are definitely easier for me too! I hope that whatever is going on for you right now, you will be able to find some wiggle room and a chance to take a breather very soon. I'm just glad some of the old IMDb guard are finding their ways here!

reply

:)

Thanks for understanding, Platinum. I hope we'll both get more wiggle room in our lives, soon!

I was delighted to see you'd made it here, and the handful of others I've come across. BTW, MissMargo, one of the posters you'd interacted with here, is a gem! So is one of the other posters, whose name I forget, but starts with an E. I don't know him, but have read his posts before. It's wonderful you've inspired such great conversations!

reply

Yes, MissMargo is wonderful, and I believe you might be referring to ecarle? He is fantastic with a wealth of knowledge and analytical skills with all of cinema in general and Hitchcock in particular. Who needs IMDb anyway when he's around? :)

I was just having a conversation with him about a particularly complex Richard Boone performance in The Kremlin Letter. It's along the lines of Damian Lewis's complexity as Soames that inspires so much love/hate. I'm going to tell him about Soames! :)

reply

Yes, it was ecarle I was thinking of. Absolutely, he is a wealth of information and thoughtful analysis.

Really, as complex as Lewis's Soames?! In that case, it goes on my "MUST see" list! Thanks for telling me about it :)

reply

Catbookss, I should warn you it's a very dense spy movie, and to quote ecarle sometimes incoherent. With that said, Richard Boone is one of my favorites, and his performance as Ward renders him both evil and endearing all at the same time. He is simultaneously charming and repulsive, which brought up the Soames comparison in my mind!

reply

I second that.

reply

I don't know he did like that one woman who kept everything really organized.

reply

He loved her because she was the only one who could understand him.

reply

yep

reply

I'm not really sure. Even Columbo became worse as the series went on.

reply

Colombo didn't get worse just the writing and the people behind it stopped trying as hard I can watch Peter Falk as Columbo in a bad episode over a better TV mystery series like Poirot

reply

They stopped trying as hard and the result was that it became worse. That's nice if you can watch any episode, but I have real trouble watching those late 90s episodes and the last episode is just unwatchable for me.

reply

Yes Columbo Likes the Nightlife is the worst one I wish they had ended with the Monk Columbo crossover that almost happened

reply

Wow, that was really the plan? Wasn't Falk too ill by then? I mean, I thought he quit doing Columbo because his health was declining? Was he supposed to be on Monk or the other way around?

reply

[deleted]

I heard plans around the time Columbo Likes the Night Life they wanted to Have Columbo meet Monk I don't know if it was just a rumor or what. and I can't find where I read it and all i seem to find is fanfiction Peter Falk did want to do One more Columbo in 2007

reply

Sounds interesting. Would it have worked? I don't know.

reply

I have no idea how Tony Shalhoub would feel about it, but if I were to guess, I'm thinking he'd just as soon leave the Monk character behind.
But I could be completely wrong. He just seems like an Artist and has likely moved on.
I did like the series, though, after some friends recommended it. Saw it in re-runs.
