Sharona leaving the show

I'm currently rewatching the first seasons and it seems to me that the writers' intention was sharona and mr.Monk to become a couple. So,I was wondering if the actress hadn't left the show if they were going to end up together.Maybe it was mentioned in a interview or something?does anyone know?(However I believe that Natalie would be just a very good friend and never was intented for something more.)

Actually, the writers were quite clear from the beginning that Sharona and Monk (and Monk and Natalie) were never intended to become a couple, though in both cases, they did like to tease the shippers (Mr. Monk Gets Married, Mr. Monk is on the Run Pt.2.) Around season 2 they started hinting about a Sharona/Randy thing, but that never came to fruition. (Ahem)

And between the first inklings of Natalie's inception and the filming of her first episodes, the writers did say that there might be something more, but by the time they got around to filming, that was quickly annulled.

Anyway, people who ship both M/S and M/N saw shippy things in their relationships, probably because in both cases, Monk was closer to Sharona and then Natalie than anyone else in his life with the exception of Trudy.

I thought she was supposed to help him solve the case of her murder and eventually get over her and her death(not forget her).I don't know why,but I see small indications in many episodes that their relationship could possibly become romantic. But that's probably just me. :P

No, it's not just you, my boss shipped them, as did a lot of the fans at the time (and people shipped Natalie and Monk for the same reasons when she was on the show), but that just means people see what they want to see.
