Re: Mr. Monk Goes to a Rock Concert...

I didn't grasp the importance of the balloon in the episode.

Apparently, the culprit had blown into it while disguised as his victim.

How did the balloon serve as proof of his culpability?

thanks

If I remember correctly, he used a unique chemical in his inhaler, that he had used prior to blowing up the balloon.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Sounds like a helluva stretch to prove someone guilty of murder though.

I don't think it would prove he's guilty of murder. It just proves that the musician guy was the one who blew up the ball...and made himself look like the dead junkie guy.

Actually it *would* prove he's guilty of murder.

The acupuncturist Annie told Monk that she watched "Stork" (who was actually Kris disguised as Stork) blowing up the big blue beach ball after he had arrived for the acupuncture appointment.

The evidence in the beach ball would prove that it was Kris (the killer) rather than Stork who had the appointment. That would in turn prove that Kris hadn't had acupuncture, and therefore wouldn't have gone near needles in the first place.

The fact the rubber thing that was used to tighten the arm for self-injection didn't have teeth marks was enough evidence to prove that Stork didn't inject himself.
