She is asking for Gunnar a couple of times and then leaves a few seconds before midnight.
And what is it that she is leaving on the table?
I guess it is the silent woman that lived in the apartment building with him in Berlin. Maybe she is leaving a part of the Berlin-Wall packages that he made on the table.
shareYes, I had to look this up in the booklet that came with the DVDs: it is indeed the woman from the Berlin apartment block that Gunnar squatted in, who washed the football shirt that he stuffed through her letter-slot. Not having appeared since episode 2, it was a bit of a stretch to expect anyone to recognize her several hours later.
shareHaving watched the whole of Heimat 3 over two days, it was less of a stretch for me to recognise her as Gunnar's apartment block neighbour, though as a test of our attention it was a good one. But what was in the box? What had happened between her and Gunnar? Was this a storyline with a loose end being tidied up? I don't mind ambiguity and thoughtful endings, but felt it was a shame Gunnar's story dropped away so soon as he was a strong character pathos-wise for me, an always optimistic survivor for whom something would always happen...
