Birds Of Prey strikes me as being in the vein of today's Arrow. The re-imagining, rearranging of elements and retelling of well known superhero's stories in a new way.
I guess people just weren't ready for that sort of show a decade ago.

Agreed! It would've been a hit, it has the dark vibe of Arrow but the cheesy humour of Flash.

I haven't viewed every episode yet (I ordered the DVD , which has "Gotham Girls" as well), but I really like it. Maybe it was ahead of its time, but I feel it should have lasted more than one season.
sharealso agree. plot holes, cheesiness and all, this was worth more than one season. had it been created say a year before arrow, it would still be in production on arrow/flash coattails...with improved production values.
