Why not make more W+G movies?

That's what i was wondering after watching all the masterpieces at a stretch. I mean, all of them have been well appreciated as well as been profitable. Why don't they churn out a movie every couple of years is what i would like to ask?

Don;t even start with: that will reduce the quality of their work and stuff.

and a couple of years are more than enough to make a clay animation movie.

reply

It took five years to make this one.

It's not about reducing the quality of the work - it simply wouldn't be finished!

Its total gross made over 5x its budget. Dvd sales paid for the movie alone. This movie was definitely a success.

I think they should stop the reason being because they have a tremendous legacy. W+G are the British version of Asterix and Obelix.

reply

I don't think they should stop. They need at least another movie if not 2, if they can "Wing it". Asterix is so popular overseas, even I know about it down here in the Heart of Dixie. Well, and there was that Genesis game that came out DECADES ago along the Asterix & Obelix story line that was a little action game... and I have relatives in Belgium also helps. ;)

reply

Because it takes ages to make claymation films, even if they wanted to, they couldn't just churn them out every few years.

there's no point in being grownup if you cant be childish sometimes!

Peter Sallis who voices Wallace is now 91. I don't think he would be up to another few years in the studio... And it just wouldn't be the same without him, he's a bloody legend!

Each of the films have very creative premises. The type that comes to one's mind with the right inspiration. They just haven't gotten any more.
