Open up your minds...

This was not a bad movie, it was just different. It takes an open minded person to appeciate this movie. I thought it was great, it gives a break from the typical teen movies being put out.

i agree. elijah woods character can be related to all of us, if we allow ourselves to be open minded, as tininator84 said. he is a confused and socialy outcased 17 yr old who is search for identity and inderpendent.

Wow. But you came and commented so you were hooked by something? The soundtrack maybe. I thought the soundtrack was what the movie maybe tried to be. Eclectic, silly/serious. You know kinda trying to laugh at itself but maybe be pretentious and artsy at the same time. Quirky but good I guess. I thought your summation of the hollywood cliché was great. I never heard it said like that before and quite agree. As to the movie; to many misses not enough hits. Good cast though. (not talking about the one on Ms. Potente)

This is just cliched Hollywood crap that says 'lose your virginity, and your whole life will fall into place'.

I don't think it's so much Hollywood as it is pop culture itself. I mean, look around at the s*** teenagers are watching and listening to. We've got MTV and VH1, filled with shows that emphasis on sex and skin. "If you love someone, or if you're feeling down, sex is the right thing to do!" And these damn rappers like 50 Cent and Eminem are talking about abusing and raping women.

Granted, Hollywood does have a lot to do with this, as well as the coming-of-age movies. But let's be frank - most teenagers DO expirience the "coming-of-age" feeling after they lose their virginity, even though the feeling isn't exactly accurate at times.

Basically, let's just blame pop culture, burn all televisions, radios, and magazines, and everything will be okay!!!

Yeah. I feel the same way. I already look back on my first kiss and cringe, because my sister forced me into it, and I barely knew the guy. I'm making sure not to make the same mistake with sex.

WAIT `TIL YOU GOT THE RING ON YOUR FINGER! That's the only "sure thin" on earth.

Oh my Lord! Did that really happen to you? I can understand if you'd be traumatised, I would be too.

I was 12 when I got my first kiss. The setting was totally Hollywood-style - it was the 4th of July, there were fireworks, and we were next to a lake. But the guy was basically a 15-year-old my sister shoved onto me. Looking back on it, I think I'm pretty lucky the guy didn't try to do more to me, since at that point I was so hypnotized by my sister that I would have thought it was okay.

I'm 14 now, and I've yet to get kissed again, but I'm damn proud of it. I'm waiting for my birthday, when I'm 15, and have a boyfriend.

Why thank you! I do have my sights set on a Ridiculously Good-Looking Friend of mine, who looks like a mixture of Ewan McGregor and Bon Jovi. LOL

All the best to you and your boyfriend, too. (:^D)

Well he's doing a good job of protecting them, since I've never seen any pictures of them, or his wife for that matter. Good for him; the world doesn't need to know about his private life.
