Is this worth trying for a Die-Hard Potente Fan?

I have watched every single movie Franka Potente has ever done (I'm kind of enamoured with the woman) and I wanted to know if this film is worth picking up just for fandom purposes.

I have yet to see her in a role I didn't love. Is she bad in this film?

reply

She's awesome here, dude. I saw her only in 3 movies (Lola Rennt, Bourne ID and this one), and I consider this hers role to be the strongest among three.

Go for it! Franka rocks.

reply

More like flat. Her character is written okay, but there wasn't any real enthusiasm in her performance, like it was being done just for a paycheck.

reply

If you say so, I thought she rocked. Definately see it! I haven't seen her in a lot, but in Blow, man, she was really eXcellent!

She was flat, because her character was written as being flat. Was it up to her acting in the Bourne Identity? No way. But the film was all over the map.

She's very good in a very bad film. Watch out for the bit where she says she's from a similar area in USA to Elijah Wood's character, despite the fact that she was speaking in her own accent most of the film.

reply

I'd pass on it. I'm a fan of both Franka and Elijah, and admittedly, they did the best with what they were given. But the fact still remains that it's just a really badly written film.

'Watch out for the bit where she says she's from a similar area in USA to Elijah Wood's character'

I have watched this movie more times than I can count, I think, and do not remember her saying that. I don't remember her ever saying where she was from.

reply

I just watched it. Okay movie...

Franka actually curses in german in the beginning when her car breaks down. And when she's talking to Elaijah while she takes pictures he says he's from "back east" and she replies "Me too". Germany lies to the east... =)

reply

I think it's a really nice, sweet, and interesting film, and Franka's character is cool. I've only seen her in a handful of films as well, but I really like her, and this film.

I feel you on that one.

reply

I'm with you both here. Franka Potente is absolutely beautiful.

reply

she's beautiful. but why the hell is this of importance? she's a good actress. respect her for that.. becoming enamored (no u btw this aint french) with a actor is stupid all along but discussing her appereance in this lousy msg board is just plain sexist.

reply

Definitively worth trying for a Potente fan! She has a warm presence throughout the entirey of the film (finally a picture in which she doesn't die after the first 20 minutes, unlike Blow or Bourne II) as usual. In the beginning, the film made a very wooden impression on me, but it got better and better. It's just the kind of light entertainment to sit back and relax on.

I just watched this movie for like 20mins and I fell in love with her... So I'd say yes.
