Did any of you English speakers find this DVD frustrating because of the scattered and disjointed English subtitles?
I stopped watching after 20 minutes because I could not follow. It seems about one third of every other sentance was transcribed into English. I wonder if the French or Spanish subtitles were as weak.
I am very dissappointed.

While I'm not a really fluent German speaker, it did seem to me as if the only things they left out were spots where she stumbled a bit, or repeated herself. German does tend to be a bit 'wordier' than English so the English translation would be a bit shorter.
shareYou've struck on the reason I gave this movie a 3 rating. It's simply too much reading; unless you know German, Traudl Junge's story would work much better as a book or a long magazine article, so you could read at your lesiure.

A 3?? That's weak. This is a personal account of Hitler leading up to the last MINUTES of his death. To me, it deserves more than a 3.
I know the whole thing is a close-up shot of someone talking...and in another language at that (you have to read subtitles)....but I can't think of a more interesting topic.
actually there is a book with her whole story, much more details than in "im toten winkel". i don't know how good the english version is, but the german one is great.

It can't rain all the time...
I was able to watch this attentively and do my ironing without any problems.

Traudle Yunge spoke on World at War in her halting and heavily accented English, and what she had to say was most profound. When she speaks in her comfortable first language as seen on Blind Spot you can tell her feelings from the way she inflects her words and the meaningful expressions she shows. Even, yes, to a non German speaker like myself. The effect is as poignant as in World at War, perhaps more so.
If one hasn't the patience to watch it then one should not. Then it is not for you.
