A fictionalised account of a few of the true exploits of Thomas Cochrane

The characters Jack Aubrey and Horatio Hornblower were both based on the incredible but true exploits of Thomas Cochrane 10th earl of Dundonald.
I fail to understand how the life of this Scot who deserves in my view to be considered the equal of Nelson, is completely buried and forgotten.
Cochrane's achievments would easily justify a trilogy of films. Not only his many naval successes but also his attempts to fight the corrupt british naval establishment in order to save the lives of his fellow sailors, also his career demise and framing at the hands (almost certainly) of that same establishment.
Anyone who enjoyed Master and Commander should read the biography of Thomas Cochrane!
