Lord Blakeney

What a doll! So well acted by Max Pirkis. He was my favorite character. I loved how they showed that he wouldn't take any cheek from the crew (unlike Hollum) & that he could make tough decisions such as when he said all the critters must be left behind on Galapagos in order to save the doctor.

Yes, I didn't remember the actor's name but he was great as a young boy who had to grow up quickly.

But Blakeney didn't make that decision. The doctor did.

Not so. Blakeney and Maturin were hurrying back the the Surprise with Padeen behind them laden with cages and baskets full of animals. Then the Doctor collapsed, and Blakeney ordered Padeen to ditch everything he was carrying - opening the cages so they wouldn't just die in them - so that he was free to carry the Doctor instead.

A Mixture of right and wrong.

Blakeny made the decision to leave the animals behind.
Maturin mentioned to open the cages to let them free.

He was brilliant, one of my favourite characters from the books as well. And Max Pirkis played the role exceedingly well. If you haven't already and could spare the time, catch him in Rome as young Julius Ceasar - magnificent!
