I thought It Runs in the Family looked like an interesting movie, since it had the Douglas family in it. Wonder what made it such a flop?
But I'll be sure to rent it on video.

"Wonder what made it such a flop?"

Its because most american movie audiences are ignorant of Motion Picture History. Very few young people (newborns-30s or so) couldn't even tell you who Kirk Douglas is.

That's what excited me about this project. I'm 18, and I have a very good understanding and respect for cinema history. I was thrilled to see Kirk on screen again. I went go see this movie the weekend it came out, and was surround by a bunch of 60 and 70 year old people.

Also, MGM didn't market it very well. It was also released in very few theaters. It took me awhile to find one that played it in my area.

On top of that, this is not the kind of movie or comedy that teens like or want to watch. Most money from films comes from teens and young people, and like I said, the only money this movie made came from a bunch of older views, people who understood who Kirk and Michael Douglas are.

I think its doing better in the rental area.

My friend told me to see this movie. It had a good story line, but poor Kirk, I couldn't understand a word of what he was saying. You'd think after a stroke that he may give up his career. It was however a good attempt. I did not like this movie as much as I thought I would, but Cameron was hott. I stuck it out until the end, but ended up thinking "Richard Simmons: Disco Fever" was better than this movie..

I'm 21 and am completely familiar with the works of Kirk Douglas. This movie didn't receive a theatrical release in Australia - it went straight to video.
I rented it. I hated it. To be honest, it sucked balls.

But it was good to see Kirk again, although his performance wasn't as good, thanks to age. It was better than 'Diamonds' his last film before this, which was only appealing thanks to Jenny McCarthy and her 'two friends'.

I always liked Kirk, especially in 'Champion', 'Spartacus', 'Last for Life', 'Lonely Are the Brave', 'Ulysses', 'Amos' and even 'Saturn 80'.

'The Villain' is also another guilty pleasure of mine.

and thats why I went to go see this film, to see Kirk Douglas on the screen again.

Is this a good movie? No, not really. But to me, this movie was about seeing a screen legend return to the big screen. Does he give us his best performance? No, not by a long shot. But he was there, and he came back, and he can still act, even with his speech problems.

i suggest for all of you to look out for The Illuson, Kirk Douglas' newest film, which will be coming to film festivals later this year. It looks very promising.

Proof that drugs and a keyboard don't mix.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.
