a buttan

someone knows?
What dose buttan mean?

reply

No, but what does it have to do with this movie?

The button is very important. It appears at the beginning, when Max throws it from the terrace, and it is shown as it falls down. Then, at the end when they are at the train station, Victor opens his father's hand and the button is there.

Since the DVD was damaged, I couldn't watch part of it, do I need to see it again to find out the meaning of the button.

OH THE BUTTON!!

Yes, I didnt understand what that poster meant...

Max and Rangel had agreed use a button as a sign of trouble or a set-up. Had Max handed Rangel a button before boarding the train, Rangel would not have spent 10 years in jail.

Since Max could not stop Rangel from being captured, he felt guilty all his life and in his close-to-death delirium he wanted desperately to hand Rangel the button.

Hope that helps ;)

That's a good guess, but actually it was Marie (Max's wife) who betrayed "Rancel" by giving information to the Franquist police. Thus the button key doesn't really fit in the story. Some questions remain unanswered: Did Max knew that his wife was the traitor? and/or he "displaced" the guilt to himself and carried it all the same.

Yes Rancel was betrayed by Marie, but thats another story. The question was about the buttons. Whoever it was that betrayed Rangel is irrelevant to this post.

Besides, you are mistaken, my answer is not a guess, that is what the buttons meant. It was explained in the scene where Rancel and Victor were having a drink and Victor was asking Rangel to meet with Max, which he declined.

Maybe that dialog was changed in the subtitles, or you simply missed it.
