New Riverworld Remake?

I read on SciFi Wire about this, not really sure if its a remake, a continuation or what. Still I enjoyed this movie and hope the next one(s) are great.

My family and I were just out for a walk and stumbled accross the film location. Its a Sunday and there's noone around, but, there's about 12 tractor trailers lined up along a dike in the local park. A posted sign explains that it's for filming the new mini series, Riverworld. I never heard of it, so I looked it up.
