On the extra features, Park said he originally was going to end with the father getting the phonecall that the kid has died and hanging up, and the idea with him getting murdered by the terrorist group only came later. How do you think it would have been if he stayed with that? IMO, the current ending really works as a punch to the guts.

I think the current ending wrapped everything up with a neat little bow. Ryu and Park both got vengeance on those who wronged them, and both paid for the privilege.
