Getting remade?

This and Lady Vengeance. There are few details at the moment but they have their own IMDb pages, as you can see from the link.

Is there a point remaking films this good and this new?

Yes, money.

Although remaking 'Mr. Vengeance' would be even more of a pointless endeavor than remaking Oldboy was at this point.

Those were announced in 2010 (I think). But I doubt they'll make them because the OLDBOY remake flopped. Besides, wouldn't it have been better to make the remakes in the same order as the originals?

reply

True enough. Spike Lee made a mess of Oldboy but I don't think that'll stop the remake machine that's producing all these films. I agree, it would be better to make them in the correct order but it's far from vital.

Have you watched Lee's Oldboy? Why do you think it didn't work? I think it was because it didn't translate properly. A film like that could only work in the East.

I haven't watched either version of OLDBOY because I wanted to watch MR. VENGEANCE first. Now, when I said it flopped I meant financially. After all, that's what really drives studios, right? If a movie flops, there's no sequel.

I enjoyed Park's Oldboy but I would also say it's wildly overrated. It's a good film, but far from a legendary one.

No. It IS legendary and time will prove it to be so.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

Indeed. Pure class. Everything about Oldboy screams brilliance.
