Deleted scenes
Just watched the deleted scenes found on dvd and wondered why on earth was the press conference scene removed from the actual film? I thought it was absolutely hilarious!

Absolutely agree. They could've left in four more of those great scenes and still had a decent running time. It's too bad but at least we got to see them on the DVD
shareAgree. Certain of these deleted scenes would have enhanced the movie while retaining an acceptable running time.
shareI agree.
I appreciate that Guest's approach is very deliberately based on filming a lot of material, then severely editing it down for the final cut.
They're not just cutting out the goofs and flubs and stuff that didn't work for whatever reason.
But this creates the odd circumstance of having really worthwhile stuff piling up on the cutting-room floor. Of course, some of this is recovered in the DVD deleted scenes.
I don't know what Christopher Guest is up to these days, but my impression is that he's not making films. Too bad, and I hope I'm wrong.
Meanwhile, I wish he would consider indulging fans and producing updated "Director's Un-cut" DVD versions of all of his films that incorporate the best of the deleted material-- essentially, scenes that were cut due to time constraints.
Good news, LB - here's something to cheer you up - Guest lives! (but apparently was dead for 5 minutes...)
