Hi Everyone,
I recently bought the movie and i was wondering if anyone knew what the symbol on yuki's back meant. I seen it many times in the opening credits as well. If anyone knows or has any information on this or even perhaps a link to the actual picture of the tatoo.

das actually the family crest. all japanese family have a different family crest according to their last name. for this movie it's "takemikazuchi".

It does remind me of the 3 leafed "Hollyhock" crest of the Tokugawa Shogunate, which ruled a deliberatly isolated Japan from 1603 to 1868.

Probably not, my guess is that it's supposed to be a blend of the Tokogawa mon and the Ouroboros, the serpent swallowing it's own tail. Which would be fitting, as it represents the cyclical nature of history, with the past repeating itself in the future.
