wow, i thought this movie was excellent. i agree some of the dialogue was a bit jesus but this had one of teh best sword fights i've ever seen and the action itself was just awesome. i can't see how this movie only gets's a 5.9 average.

While I'm hesitant to give it a score I do think the movie isn't what it should have been.
It has some awesome action scenes. Also some very good drama scenes. But what lacks is cohesion. Drama and action don't flow well into eachother plus the stories between Yuki and Takeshi were seperate. They did not let them grow together well enough. Only towards the end they make a little effort to do so.
And then the movie is over leaving us in the dark.
It's an interesting concept but it should have been a lot better.

I loved it, and I think it deserves a lot higher than a 5.9, but hey, what can you do?
It did have some pretty kick ass action scenes, and some good drama. I've heard a few people say they thought they could've tied Takashi's and Yuki's storylines together a little bit better, but I thought it was just fine. I sort of thought that too, the first time I saw it, but I watched it again, earlier today, and I don't have a problem with it at all. I mean, it's only an hour and a half.
I died then I thought of you and came back to life.

wow you must not have seen too many kung fu movies if you seriously think this movie has one of the best sword fights ever...this movie was WEAK!
anytime jackie, jet, or donnie yen get hold of a sword - watch out! how about "duel to the death", (chock full from beginning to end with amazing sword fights and it is old school.) "legend of the wolf" (donnie actually doin a decent job directing and weilding a wicked ass machete.) or "the legend of fong sai yuk" (jet li not only blindfolded but he takes on like 20 dudes with something like 8 swords strapped to his waist.).
these are only 3 that pop to my mind right away...there are many more movies out there that put this to shame.
the movie certainly doesn't deserve anything more.
