my game's effed up.

i basically finished the game an all.
what i needed was to catch suicune and get the pokemon that i couldn't get in silver.
and then one day, after saving it and turning it off,
when i went to resume playing, my saved file was missing.
it only gave me two options, 'new game' and 'options'.
and everytime i try to start over again, it doesn't save.
when i finally got it to save again, it gave me three options,
but when i clicked on 'continue'
it said my file was corrupted.
how can it be corrupted when i didn't get past the second town!
:S

your smile lights this sky&all i ask is you save me your last dance.

In your game cartridge there is a battery for the clock on your game. The battery cannot be removed or replaced, therfor once it runs out yoyu can't play. Happened to me too. This happens with any pokemon games with built in clocks.

i was just coming here to bring up the exact same thing

with a sudden urge to unveil my pokemon master trainer fury, i first started playing Red for the first time in about a year. Then, after beating Brock, i remembered i had gotten Silver, and had never even surpassed the second gym, and decided to take it for a whirl. I nailed about a hour and a half into it before shutting it down. Later the same day, i was mega bored and had nothing better to do, i went to play again, only all i had was New Game and Options, as if i had just purchased the game.

I was pissed, but i thought it was just a fluke, and started over again, putting about the same amount of time into it. Again, the exact same thing happened.

So you're saying that this clock battery thing ran out and now i can never have a saved file again???

-----EDIT-----

i just now figured out what you were saying

since this game keeps a running clock, unlike Red, Blue, or Yellow before, the game needs a battery to know the time. So instead of the game just asking for the time again whenever you begin playing, it has to completely erase all previous data???

Oh my god I am so relieved to find out that I wasnt the only one that ahppened to, but you can imagine how pissed off I was because I only needed two more pokemon to complete my pokedex, suicine and raikou and then when I turned it on one morning BAM!
Your file is corrupted

They should have done a recall on the games because of that

hmm i just bought mine second hand, hope it doesnt happen to me, all i can suggest is that when you capture or raise really powerful pokemon transfer them to silver or another game so that if it does happen at least youll still have a few of your best pokemon left.

Whenever I get a really good pokemon, I use the "cloning" trick to keep one on my game and another on my N64 Box.
