Slavery
I'm a little confuse why was that crippled boy kept prisoner at the school I thought slavery in England was illegal ? When they bought him back to beat it him it seemed rather reminiscent of the scene in Roots.
shareSmike was not a slave, although he was treated wretchedly. He was abandoned at the school, to make a long story short, and the schoolmaster made him work in exchange for a roof over his head.
