Lovecraft connection ?

Hi,

do you think there is a connection with the Lovecraft mythology? Some of the spells they read from the book have some resemblance with the weird language in the HPL stories, in particular I heard the name 'Yog Sothoth' or something like that.

Thank you.

reply

Yes, the Lovecraft connection is there. Besides Yog-Sothoth name that you can hear, in the book you can find Hastur as well, whose name is used for anoother spell.

The word "fhtagn" appears in the book as well, and some word which sounded very close to "tsathoggua".

We loved that when we first watched the movie... Especially as it is not really advertised as lovecraftian story, so it was a surprise to find 'fhtagn' in the book... :(

Definitely! There's also scene where you can see the name Tsathoggua written on the book (only misspelled).

I definitely see it. I'm always recommending this film to people who are big into Lovecraft. It's an overlooked little gem.
