Anyone know?

The Island of Doctor Moreau was a book long before this movie came out so no it is not a rip-off, you should do some research before you ask stupid questions.

THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU was written in 1896 by H.G. Wells. It has been made as a movie at least 4 times that I can think of (although if you look it up in this database there are only 3 listed).

Some 13 years old are much brighter then some 31. And sometimes we grow senselessly. But I would not suppose mockery. Mockery is too mean. More like under influence of.
