which one's better, halo 1 or halo 2?

Clearly Halo 1, Campaign-wise. And Weapon-wise, and map-wise, and balance-wise.

But Halo 2 did have Xbox Live. And Elite's (lol).

i thought the story in 2 was better cos it went more in depth, and i liked how you got to see the story from the otherside when you were the arbiter. plus some of the levels in 2 are beautiful. dont get me wrong, there were some great lookin locations in the 1st one too. bring on halo 3, thats what i say!

Halo 1 campaign no contest, idk why i just love playing original compared to #2.

I's Say it's a tie.

Halo - Better Environments, Longer Game, Multiplayer Maps Where slightly Better, and it was slightly creepy when it came to the flood.

Halo 2 - Better Weapons, More Depth in the Story, And the change in characters, And, of Course, Xbox Live.

Halo 3 looks awesome, and from the four maps i've seen, they're Great (Snowbound, Highground, That other one I can't remember, and a larger Zanzibar)

I agree with most people when i say that halo 1 had the better campaign mode.

But Halo 2 is the best online game (FPS) ever IMO.

Halo all the way campaign wise. I still play it in co-op with my friends. I always wanna pick up Halo 2 and play it's campaign. I get my self excited. Then I go to pick out a level and none of them call to me. There arent any stand out parts in any level. In Halo i love every level and can play any of them any time without getting annoyed with it.

Of course in terms of multiplayer and online play id have to go with Halo 2

reply

This one's really easy. Halo 2 has the better campaign. Why? Because you don't play through the whole thing backwards, which was incredibly tedious. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing it through for the first half, but it gets boring wandering through the same levels forwards and backwards. Besides, Halo 2 was much more cinematic.

As for multiplayer, it's 2 because of xbox live. Personally I hate playing Halo for multiplayer because it requires special Halo skill and doesn't take into account much tactical thinking or realism, but that's just me (feel free to make any "pwn n00bs" comments here, as I didn't play long enough to get anywhere). But obviously playing against more people around the world would make Halo 2 stronger.

Halo 1, barely. Halo 2 had a better multiplayer and storyline, but that "epic" feeling of Halo 1 just isn't as prevalent. I'm glad it seems to be back in Halo 3, though.

In my opinion, both Halo and the sequel have a great plot, but I think Halo 2 has a lot of better stuff involved than Halo 1. Yes, the MP in both is great, but I felt like Halo 2 was just getting started; compaired to what Halo 3 will have. :ooh...:

I loved halo 1 but halo 2 has 2 weapons at the same time , I haven't beat halo 1 yet and I loved halo 2 it was so fun

halo 2 is on the edge of halo 1
sooo..halo 1 was better than halo 2 for me

reply

Halo 1 all the way, halo 2's campaign was complete tosh with no big outdoor levels you could go explore in vehicles like in halo 1 . It felt like they had taken a step back almost.
MP wasnt as good I thought either as there was too much emphasis on dual weilding so thats all i ever saw.

Halo 1 had a great campaign and halo 2 is great cuz of live.

I would have to say halo 2 because of live but if halo 1 had live (yes I know live wasn't out yet) it would been as great as halo 2.

Master Chief: I Need A Weapon.

Johnson: Right This Way.

I replayed Halo CE a lot more than Halo2, but I think the weapons and gameplay are better in Halo 2.

Both Halos had great campaigns. I don't really play Xbox Live so that's what I focus on. In my opinion, this contest is a tie. They were both great and epic in my mind. The one thing I liked better about number 2 was that the environment was much more open. You don't as confined or lonely cause you're not stuck on a ring the whole game and it's actually possible to get reinforcements

Halo Reach is better than 2 and 3, but Halo (2001) is the still the greatest.

I don't know about the campaign mode being better in 1. To be honest, it got kind of repetitive after a while...no boss fights or anything of that nature to make things interesting. Halo 2 didn't have any boss fights, per se, but the segments in which you had to fight the Prophet of Regret and the chief of the Brutes were both great. In general, I thought that the story line was better in 2, in specific because, as others have said, it was considerably more in depth than the first one, and you also had the added bonus of seeing the story through the eyes of the Covenant. Finally, the multi player in Halo 2 easily trumped that of Halo 1. More weapons, dual wielding, and more vehicles amongst other things made it so much more enjoyable than Halo 1.

I like the Arbiter a lot, the temporary cloak made his character more fun to use than the Master Chief, but Master Chief had better levels for the most part.

Halo, no question, is better than Halo 2 even without the online. One simple thing destroyed Halo 2's online mode. The energy sword. It is a one hit kill melee weapon that has the range of about 15 feet. Pretty much who ever carries that sword the longest will win the match. Halo 1 had the best campaign ever until halo 3 came out. The campaign (and online) is almost flawless. As a matter of fact, it is flawless. I personally haven't played much online, but I have only seen the energy sword once and it took more than one 35 ft. lunge to kill the opponent. What made Halo 1 a great game was plain and simple, THE Master Chief. He is the ultimate badass superhero. He is the only thing lying in front of a swarm of aliens, and manages to destroy them all and destroy Halo. He is the last chance humans have against a superior enemy. In Halo 2 you are FORCED (not optional) to play with a covenant(The Arbiter.) Which in my opinion, is absolute insanity. In Halo you ARE the Master Chief, you embody him when you run through countless covenant foes, and save the galaxy. In Halo 2 you are forced to play as one of those foes? It took away from the badassness. BUT, they tried to make up for that by adding huge guns, and huge levels, and huge swords. Which in my opinion was a mistake. It wasn't the huge weapons or the huge swords that made Halo 1 great, it was simply The Master Chief. For God's sake, the rockets were homing. That took no skill what so ever. The sword killed EVERYTHING, It took no skill what so ever. Also Halo 2's online was a mess because you can be playing against up to 15 people at once. Talk about a *beep* In Halo one you played only up to 8 players at once which made for a perfect balance. It's not to messy, but not to slow paced at the same time. You can actually show a decent amount of skill against 7 opponents rather than 15. You don't die 500 times a match. Jeez, I talked longer than I wanted to. Halo 3 has the best campaign of all time, next is Halo 1, then Halo 2 is somewhere along the bottom.

I'd say Halo 1 for sure! I can play for hours without getting a headach. Where as when i play Halo 2 i tend to get a headach really fast! Maybe it because of the colours seem more brighter or because the slightest touch on the controlling stick sends the whole screen flying around in circles. But the first one just has a better story line for me :)

Halo 1, HANDS DOWN...

Starting out with the Pistol lets you tackle any situation your in...
3 headshots and your dead...go grab you're dual weapons in halo 2

Halo 2 was a big step back for bungie, halo 3 is alittle better but still doesn't touch halo 1

Being n00b friendly doesn't make a game good, no fall damage, sword lunge, homing rockets, homing missle pods, homing plasma pistol, melee lunge...need i keep going?

Bring back Halo 1, new maps with live
