So it's impossible to die in an asylum?

Has no one ever heard of Zelda Fitzgerald?

reply

I always found it odd that she's gone to the extent of putting herself in there for safety, and has the requirements that a visitor can't have anything from belts to long fingernails, yet there is a TV monitor at eye level in her room that could just blow up right into her face. LOL

reply

ROFLMAO!!! That's a VERY good point, jdw! LOL!

reply

Good point, but maybe Death can't just make things explode for no reason, maybe "he" needs a cause (like in FD, Ms Lewton's computer doesn't just explode - Death makes her spill a drink on it first). I could be wrong though.

My favorite Final Destination is the 4th – DEAL with it!

reply

Death caused all the outlets and light fixtures to explode in FD1 when Clear was trying to get away...and the power lines when it tried to electrocute her when the pool burst open...

Things started exploding in Clear's house because the power line hit an electrical box outside.

But yeah, the monitor wasn't a bright move on Clear's part. All it'd take is a lightning storm and that padding could be up in flames.

she probably didnt realise.
barring that...i thnk it was a little plot hole.

Yeah I wondered the same thing about the TV monitor and other things in the room. She could strangle herself with her top or pants. The monitor could explode or fall on her or catch on fire, etc.

Besides, who is paying for this "voluntary" stay? Insurance wouldn't if it wasn't ordered by a doctor....

Or Death could just play a Final Destination marathon and she could die laughing at the script. It could be some nicely ironic meta-death or something.

Food poisoning, germs etc. Guess death forgot all these

reply

Also, you would think shed get rid of the newspaper articles and try to focus on nothing or whatever. Why remind herself?

Ghost Face: "That's OK, I am"

reply

I guess it would be boring if death just gave them a massive heart attack lol

reply

Obviously death is bound by the laws of physics too. I mean, how else would he interact with the world?

If I was in Clear's position, I'd end it on my terms.

She was also well groomed, hair dyed, and perfectly eyebrowed for someone terrified of sharp edges and chemicals and whatnot. I love this movie but there's so much terrible about it at the same time lol

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

reply

It's unlikely, but maybe her hair is naturally blond and she died it brown then back to blond. So that's the hair dye out of the way. And maybe she naturally has perfect eyebrows??? 😂

reply

Unless somehow part of Death's plans to keep her alive for future use (no such suggestion is made), a clear violation of the film's main premise that "you can't cheat death". Therefore, an obvious plot hole.

reply

Clear could have easily died other ways, such as in her sleep. Unlikely, but it happens. Then again I'm a person who made a theory years ago that Clear was either destined to die by fire or it was foreshadowed.

Could be. I still stand by the possibility Clear was destined by be killed by fire. One of the things I mentioned in the old theory was that a fire could have broken out and Clear would be trapped in her room and eventually die from suffocation.

AIDS would have been rather left field too.

reply

Well, it was impossible to die there, given the fact that it wasn't Clear's time to die, yet!!

The point of the movies ( and the premonitions ) is that you'll die if it's time do die. Final Destination 4 explained that very well, in the last scene. The main character says the visions + the events + everything else were Death's plans the entire time. So, they were meant to be killed in that scene and not during the beginning.

While we're on the subject of silly writing... the guy who wins the lottery, super materialist like that would not reach into a disposal with his new gold watch on, he'd definitely have taken it off first or reached in with his other hand, even if it was his non dominant hand, because a materialist would not want to get their new watch dirty... it was just not even possible for him to have done that, it doesn't fit his character at all.
Even to get the ring, he would be absentminded about some things, but definitely not that.

True, but he just won, all he's had time to do is buy a nice watch, a car, a ring... then he went home to eat... I imagine he would have moved pretty fast if he had survived... he just died too soon.

She must have had some great health insurance but I doubt it would pay for voluntary confinement.

That's good to know, KrazyKatgrl. Thanks for sharing, though you don't know a thing about medical insurance and what it covers, apparently. 😘
