Don't people get...

...that this movie was modeled after a 1960's-style film? That's why so many people didn't like the odd jokes and everything-is-amazingly-summed-up ending. Really, it's a great parody-ish sort of film for the 21st century. If you treat it like a movie of its time you're going to be disappointed; so just do your homework and you might appreciate it a little more!

sorry. I had to rant a little. I mean, how can people dislike it if they don't understand the style of film?

maybe they don't, people are so ignorant of anything but the here and now
i loooved it, the style, the jokes, the costumes, the times everything
but then again...i love old movies

Oh, I loved the look and theatricality of this movie. It's a great satirical nod to the '60's. It's incredibly ironic.

I loved the style and costumes and cinematography.

The problem I had was that the movie was not funny.

I gave it a 6 for the good things about it listed above, but it SHOULD have been brilliant.

I didn't have to get it, it was obvious to me. Great movie by the way!

I got it right from the beginning.

Within complexity lies simpleness.

I thought it was cute. And the neat ending? Shakespeare did that with all of his comedies (he'd yank happy endings out of thin air if he had to), so it's not like it's something new.

I get what they were doing, it's just not as good as the original Day/Hudson movies.

Some people just don't get it. This film wasn't made to be just like the films of the 50's. it was a spoof of the films of the 50's. the jokes were spot on from the split screen sexual laugh, right down to the two girl fashion show in the hotel dining room. and David hyde pierce was sooo funny. and Renee and Ewin had great chemistry together. From there eye contacts and there body movements. the costumes, set decorations, music score. The director did a great job for this type of movie. The actors seemed to be having so much fun making it. I'll bet if you ask an actor what they would enjoy being in more a small film having a really fun time. or a big budget film where it all work. they would take the small film all the time.

No I "got it". I've seen all of Rock and Doris's movies together, and still - hated it. I really hated this movie. I like Ewan McGregor and I love the old Rock & Doris movies, but not this. It was a sort of "Got it, looks like the Oneeders" thing.

Yes, I totally got it. I am from the 60s. But the movie just didn't "hit home" with me. It was Renee who ruined it for me. She was too over the top......too mocking..........and just plain too un-funny. And, while I'm at it, why can't she learn to speak without jerking the side of her bottom lip (like an exaggerated Elvis impression?)
