Here's what I'm confused by...Where are the characters from?I didn't catch it from the beginning,and Dirk and his brother clearly aren't Americans.

I suspect they are French-Canadian (and the rest are English-Canadian).. But I don't -KNOW- this, so do-gooders, please be gentle with corrections..
