a bit of humor

NOTE - THIS IS A SPOILER!

Try this for a bit of fun if you have the movie on tape or DVD. Near the beginning of the film, where Eastwood's character jostles through the media circus only to notice the murderer hanging around in the background, use your pause button to get a good look at the villain's face during the subsequent chase.

First opportunity is when he realizes he's been spotted by Eastwood and ducks behind a tree and the assembled crowd. For a brief moment you can clearly see his face between a couple of people as he glances towards Eastwood.

The second point is where he's being chased down an alley and running towards the camera. For a second or two his face comes into the light, and you can clearly make out his features.

In both instances a heavily mustached individual can be seen who doesn't look anything like Jeff Daniels. Though one of course can assume that the murderer may have been in disguise as far as the facial hair is concerned - he did the same thing later at the ATM - the fact they didn't use Daniels for the scene, when Eastwood clearly took part, is an amusing little sidebar to the tale. They probably could have done a better job of ensuring that the lighting was such that the stand-in's features didn't show up so clearly.

Apologies if this has already been noted elsewhere. I trawled through a few posts and saw no other references to it.

Actually, I have since noted that someone else did spot the discrepancy at the beginning of the film.

Funny that you posted that,
I was rewatching this last night and its the first thing I noticed since I had already seen the movie and knew the bad guy was Jeff Daniels, I suppose when you're first watching it, the guy is passable as Jeff Daniels, but it is definitely not him.
