Ten Ring?

Why does Clint say "ten ring" when he shoots the bad guy? What did I miss?

As I understand it, a gun like the one Eastwood was holding normally has 6 rounds, so Daniels was banking on the fact that he was out of ammunition. But he actually had a "ten ring," so he had four shots left.

No, a Ten Ring is the center of the target in a shooting exercise. It scores ten points if you manage to hit it. When the target is a picture of a human the Ten Ring is marked around the heart. So he meant that he was aiming, and shooting, into his heart to finish him off.

Besides that I'm also almost sure that the Ten Ring is mentioned earlier in the movie.

I'm sure you're right - I wasn't paying that much attention because it's such a dreadful movie. Cheers - it makes sense now!

Clint's character explains (around the beginning of the movie) when he's with his heart doctor about the "ten ring" as it relates to law enforcement shooting excersizes, and how they have to qualify annually on their shooting proficiency. So at the end of the movie, he was making this comment to the bad guy, about how he was going to shoot him in the heart.

Also, there's no such thing as a 10 round shot, large caliber handgun (that I know of). He tells the boy half-way or towards the end of the movie that his handgun was an eight shot gun. Which I've never heard of either. I'm assumed that Clint's gun was a .357 magnum, by the size of the gun, I did some research and found that TAURUS makes this particuliar gun. Quite nice looking too. http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?model=608SS6&category=Revolver

I happen to own two of them, it is a limited production performance center model 627 S&W 8 shot .357 magnum pre-lock revolver. I have seen one sell for $3,000 on Gunbroker because of their semi rarity.

The one in the movie had a fluted barrel but they were sold with a non fluted barrel

From imfdb.org: "FBI Profiler Terry McCaleb (Clint Eastwood) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 627 as his sidearm throughout the film. It is a special version featuring an unusual barrel profile and an 8-shot cylinder made by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center." These people KNOW!
