One of clint's worst films.

I can't believe how wrong they got this film. Every mistake imaginable is made with this film.

For starters although I haven't read the book, I heard that the main character was about 40 years of age. Certainly not a 72 year old. This is clint clearly unable to accept old age. And what was with the stupid ending of making Buddy noone the killer?. That was absolutely idiotic. It was like Clint and the screenwriter thought...well we aren't doing a sequel and I can't think of a decent ending so...lets just make Buddy the killer. Sound good??. Didn't work at all and was a big let down.

Also this film was slow and dull. Yes I know that Clints leisurely pace is a trademark for all his films...but it is really felt here. One clint trademark that is missing is humour. If it had some, it might have made the slow pace bearable.

All in all, this was a complete stuff-up. Nobody involved should be proud of this trainwreck.

How wrong can a poster be, especially when they admit they haven't read the book?

You heard wrong. His age is never mentioned in the book, but it is clear that as a retired senior criminal profiler he is a lot older than 40. Clint was clearly playing younger than his 72 years in the film (early to mid 60's), with which he could get away doing.

It's called adapting the book to the screen, something about which you clearly know little. You may wish to explain exactly why it doesn't work. I've read the book and seen the film several times and whilst the literary narrative has been necessarily abridged, it has occurred whilst keeping to the overall spirit and themes explored in the book.

Even though you didn't want the killer changed from the book, you apparently want more gunfights, car chases and explosions to liven things up. Suffice to reiterate the film maintains the book's procedural elements. They are the sort of books Michael Connelly writes. šŸ

I seem to recall his age being mentioned in the book. Sadly I agree with the OP, this is probably Clint's worst movie as a director

Who cares if the age is mentioned in the book? Doesn't change the fact that this movie is really bad. I agree with OP too.

Just finished it and came to see if others were also offended by this BS, happy to see i'm not alone. Buddy being the killer was as obvious as the nose on your face and the whole time i was thinking that it couldn't be that easy, they intentionally want us to suspect Buddy, but it's someone else. Well, no. So screw this.

The characters were cartoonish, the Hispanic cop was a caricature, Dylan Walsh was useless and invisible and Daniels' performance as the bad guy completely unbelievable.

I have seen most of Eastwood's movies in the last 20 years, as a director and actor, Blood Work was one that i had in my watchlist for ages until i decided to watch it this afternoon, it's definitively one of his worst.

To each his own obviously but in my book: 3/10
