'The shape of the things' vs. 'In the company of men'

Just watched "The shape of the things", while I watched "In the company of men" several years ago. When I watched the latter, I remember I asked if that was a film about the wickedness of males and I was told just to watch "The shape of the things".
So, should it be seen as the "female equivalent", a sort of answer to "In the company of men" by the same director?

Nevertheless, I find "In the company of men" much more disturbing, because Chad's cruelty seems to be free, while Evelyn says she did what she did in the name of "art".

To me, it's like this, In the Company of Men it is said that the main character did what he did simply because he could. He was more on the sociopathic side. Evelyn's character is almost the same because she could pull off what she did because she's attractive and a good manipulator. Her character seems more evil in a narcissistic way. ITCOM he does it to mess with people and to further his career, and in the same way, Ev does it for her obsession with art in true form. Although she had to stay away from her own true form to achieve that twisted art.

But in reality, a girl like Ev could pull off what she did with many men, not just the severely insecure kind. But with the main character in ITCOM, it made more sense that he preyed on a insecure deaf girl.
