The ending (spoilers)

Okay, I really liked this movie, I like how elaborate it got over one basic topic.

The one thing I have a problem with, was how cheesy the death of the neighbor was. It fits the plot, everythings fine, but the acting in that shot was a bit weak to me. I'll try to explain it the best way I can. All the the acting throughout the movie until that point was perfect. You could give the DV tapes to someone and say they're real, and they'd believe it. But seeing how slowly the two reacted to each other in that last scene broke that effect for me. In real life, close quarters violence is incredibly fast, no one waits for anything. It seemed obvious to me these actors were slowing down for some reason, to maybe get all in line for the squib, I don't know.

My first thought was that the neighbor certainly wouldn't be so slow if he were once a professional assassin. But, you could say he wasn't, but still, if he has the balls to pull a gun out and shoot it once, he should be expected to be able to do it again as fast as he could.

Now that was my one and only gripe. Actually, I was disappointed by the jail thing, I find it hard to believe he'd even be arrested for killing the neighbor, since it's a federal right to shoot any unwelcome visitor in your house. But I'm grey on those issues.

That said, I really did like the movie a hell of a lot. I thought it would be some boring yet interesting movie, but it actually works dramatically.

I completely agree.

I saw this last night and that scene was really out of place because it looked so staged.

What an awesome movie though!

I didn't like the movie, but I pretty much agree with everything you say in your post. I can't see Kobeleski being arrested and surely releasing his footage would see him let off any way.🐭

It's confusing because Kobeleski says he's pleading self-defense, but it says at the end that he was convicted of conspiracy in the assassination attempt, not the murder. It also says he was sentenced to 3 years. That he would receive such a light sentence for conspiring to assassinate the president seems highly unlikely.
