Please someone explane to me why such serious and talented actress like Ellen Page is in this stupid movie.

She probably needed the work

All her movies can't be as amazing
as Hard Candy and Mouth to Mouth

Maybe this was the movie that brought her to her senses. Maybe after doing this movie she said "*beep* that ghost *beep* I gotta do some real stuff now".

I know I am, she’s an amazing actress

You should come by the Ellen Page board

We tend to be friendlier than a lot of the other boards
on IMDb we don’t blast newbies just for being new

Um...How about the fact that she was like 12 years old when she did it.

reply

she was actually 17 when this was filmed.

reply

doubtful, hard candy was shot when she was 17 and before that mouth to mouth. even though hard candy was officially released in 2005 it was filmed in 2004

So did she shoot this before Mouth to Mouth?

She went from a family, semi-cheesy film that required no real depth to arguably her first really impressive acting job in her life

Or did she shoot this before Wilby Wonderful, because she said that Wilby Wonderful is when she first started getting hooked onto acting

She was actually 14 when "I Downloaded a Ghost" was filmed. I know this because I worked as an extra/background performer on the film. It was filmed during October 2001 under the shooting title "Ghost.com".

So to clarify why she would be in the film, it's because this was her first feature length acting job. Prior she had only worked on episodes of Pit Pony, Trailer Park Boys, and Rideau Hall. This was her feature springboard.

The reason it wasn't released until 2004, and because IMDb lists the year as '04 as well, is because it sat on the shelf until a distribution deal was finally made to release the film. As far as I know, the way IMDb specifies a film's year is by release year, not the actual year it was filmed. This may vary from title to title, but the majority of the film here are listed under they release year.

Yeah, children often start in kids' movies. And indie/low-budget/tv movies are often in distribution limbo for awhile before getting picked up. She did this when she was 14. A 14-year-old playing a 14 year is a good role. I thought she was great in it. Besides, there are plenty of other great actors in it, also. It's not a bad film at all.
