shareIt's a very polarizing movie. I love it but when I showed my ex (thinking he would find it as hilarious as I do) he was sort of horrified and offended. I just don't see how anyone can NOT find it funny (even if you don't like any other parts, Cloris Leachman and the kid are hysterical) but comedy is extremely subjective.

shareIt's a black comedy. The whole point is to take a very dark direction and make very horrible situations into tragic comedy. It's not a happy go lucky silly comedy.
shareFor me, it seems a bit boring. Am not least bit offended by anything, could in fact be even raunchier by today's standards, it's just that the jokes are not that funny. The trailer was really promising, but this did not meet the exceptions.

Joke means, for instance, "Something said or done for amusement, not in seriousness". The aim of the film probably was to be amusing. For me, it did not succeed in that aim, because it just wasn't amusing, nor was it particularly funny. The scenes I saw before checking out, were maybe as funny as a caricature drawing of somebody I know vaguely, and I'd care to watch both about the same length of time.

It's a dictionary definition, so, yes, it is correct. Furthermore, I can see the intent of humour, but it just falls flat. Humour is quite often a cultural and somewhat individual experience, thus there are no universal truths.

This schizzzz is funny. Black humor, dry humor, short humor, fat humor, gay humor, stupid humor, walnut humor, Santa humor. Not for everyone but it has something for everyone.
