Bad Teacher will make you appreciate how good Bad Santa is

I wish I could go back in time and "unsee" Bad Teacher as it is a horrible movie about a lazy teacher who was just looking for a sugar daddy.

However, Bad Teacher made me realize how horrible Bad Santa could have been it had the typical Hollywood writing.

Bad Santa is just one of those rare movies that is hard to get financed due to the premise but one of the funniest movies in the last decade.

And if you are on the fringe about seeing Bad Teacher, do yourself a favor and beat yourself in the head with a hammer instead. It would be much less painful!

Its nice to know someone else agrees!

Bad Teacher feels like a PG-13 movie that came out so bad that the production team added some shots to make it R as a publicity stunt.

I doubt the abovei is true but if nothing else, Bad Santa seems like a good movie to watch with Christmas Holidays coming up!

Yea, I heard a lot about Bad Teacher being an unofficial companion piece to Bad Santa while the studio was pimping it. Naturally I was skeptical about it and decided to skip it. Thanks for reassuring me that it was a waste of time.

You made the right decision. If Bad Santa is an 8 out of 10 (what I ranked it) then Bad Techer is 3/10 at best.

reply

It wasn't that bad. I think it's because Bad Santa came before it and it has "Bad" in the title that made people think it was a ripoff and therefore not as good. But it's actually one of the few Cameron Diaz films I can watch.

Unfortunately, having watched both Bad Santa and Bad Teacher, there really isn't much difference between them.

They are both steaming piles of dog turds. Billy Bob and the rest of the cast do as good a job as they possibly can with a very weak script, lame jokes, unlikeable characters and an overly long story that tediously drags on until the end credits.

Bad Teacher is just torturous to sit through. I had to keep changeing the channel because I could only tolerate it in about 7 to 10 minute increments.

I still don't know how Cameron Diaz continues to get work when there are so many other more talented people out there.

An hour and a half is overly long for you? Do you have ADHD?

@ arkayenether - You don't read very well, do you?

As I already explained my tolerance for incredibly bad films is low. I tried several times to get through this crap-tastic piece of garbage, but as I already indicated I can only do so in small doses.

Like trying to listen to Justin Bieber's inane caterwauling without ear plugs.

i found Bad Teacher quite amusing, i liked how she found her niche at the end. also, unlike most modern comedies, it didn't descend into sentmentality at the end. But it wasn't as funny as Bad Santa.

reply

I think that was kind of cool.. she did find a way to channel her distaste for people in general. But. I don't know I guess I was kind of hoping for her to be even more awful and unlikable. Which wasn't quite how it was played.. I wanted her almost EVIL. So it was kind of disappointing in that regard. And I absolutely HATED the Lucy Punch character, just grated on my every single last nerve. It felt like they had an idea but just didn't go for it, something I can't accuse Bad Santa of not doing.

Cameron Diaz now, after 2014, hasn't got any work..happy now?

reply

i just dont like bad teacher. it was just bad to me. but bad santa is freaking hilarious. love this movie. hate bad teacher

reply

I walked out of Bad Teacher and trashed everyone who saw it.

Don't care much for Santa either.

If you hated Bad Santa and Bad Teacher then why are you commenting on a thread about two movies that you think suck?

reply

BAD SANTA: 8/10
BAD TEACHER: 5.5/10

I love both. Im not sure why they have to compete against each other. Is bad sanata better? Yes. but bad santa has comedian genious Bernie Mac in it so its kind of unfair.

The difference between the two is Cameron Diaz carries Bad teacher. The supporting cast is just as hilarious if not funnier than billy bob.

reply

Cameron Diaz did not carry the movie. She has not done much since There is something about Mary as far as comedy goes and that movie seems very unfunny now.

Take a look at Cameron Diaz in The Mask and then anything after that. She is an actress that has had too much work done on her body and she was naturally beautiful. Her acting and her natural charm has taken a nosedive over the last decade.

I think it is only natural to compare Bad Santa and Bad Teacher. They both are working on the same comedy premise. Bad Santa has turned into kind of a cult classic Christmas movie while bad teacher is just forgettable. And yes Bad Santa had much more talent associated with it but that doesn't excuse bad teacher for being just a bad movie.

reply

but Bad teacher is not a bad movie. YOU dont like it, but that doesnt mean it isnt hilarious and a lot of people DO like it. Bad Santa made 76 Million at the box office, Bad teacher made 216 million. So obviously someone thought it was funny. A movie like bad teacher doesnt make 200+ million if its not good. This isnt a big box office action flick.

Just because you like bad santa doesnt mean you have to bad teacher is HORRIBLE.

Also, Diaz is a fine actress. I never thought she was the best looking thing in the world in The Mask and I never though there is something about Mary was funny.

Unfortunately for Diaz, Shes an actress in her forties. anyone who knows anything about hollywoods knows the roles dry up in the thirties unless you reach Meryl, Helen, Judi, or Diane status.
