Yep! I ordered from the UK Amazon site (I'm in the States) yesterday and it's on its way. I can't wait to see it as I'm a huge MoranWhore! :D I've heard bad things about this flick, but I'm still really looking forward to it.

reply

Yep hands up in the air,i purchased this because Dylan Moran is in it.he has transformed my life i tells ya. it was only under 3 weeks ago that i bought black books 1 2 then 3.he is really funny i also bought monster live.

reply

MONSTER:LIVE is brillant and I'm ordering Black books & The Actors soon.

reply

Saw it last night. Found myself laughing out loud at certain bits. A great daft comedy!!

reply

Yep I rented it cause of Dylan Moran -- haven't seen it to buy here in Sydney. I love Black Books, it's my favourite show, I've literally very funny. I also watched Shaun of the Dead because of the Black Books connection (obviously Dylan Moran, and also Simon Pegg s3 ep1, and also Lucy Davis s.3 ep.2 [and the office]). I thought it was quite good, but I'm not really into such parodies and stuff. Speaking of Black Books, Bill Bailey's Part Troll is hilarious, looking for Dylan Moran live.

Obey, trembling creatures, and do not desire, for that is no business of yours!

reply

I rented it becuase he was in it, I love Black Books soooooooooooooo Much!!!!

This more is pretty damn funny as well, so I am happy

So by all these people purchasing dvd's solely because of the fact that they star Dylan Moran.... am I right to assume that these people find Dylan Moran disturbingly attractive??? Because if that is the case then I am soooo relieved!! I have spent the past week watching Black Books on dvd and stressing because I find Dylan (or at least the character of Bernard) dead sexy!! I was about to take myself off to therapy! I thought I had a problem, I am attracted to crazy, chain-smoking, alcoholic, scruffy, anti-social irishmen! Well I am so glad I am not alone!!

reply

Oh thank the Lord. I saw Monster on Friday and went straight out to buy, when the quite gorgeous sales assistant told black books was the best thing ever and if I had any sense what so ever I would buy it from their rival shop as it was cheaper. So I did and have since watched them both 3 times since. I think I need counselling. He is so appallingly attractive even though he has a double chin and looks like he might smell funny, I don’t care. He looks an awful lot like James from top gear, any one else noticed? Ouf I'm turning this in to an I Love Dylan Moran post, what an intellectual I am. Anyway I'll cut to the chase, will be buying or renting The Actors just because it sounds like its mostly shot in a pub, might be funny and Dylan Moran's in it looking devastatingly attractive in a doesn’t wash too often and shaves even less kind of way :)

reply

Ya just gotta love 'im!
Anyway I wanna see it, for some reason I hadn't been on the internet to check for other Dylan Moran snuff until today, even after watching Black Books about 3 months ago *thwacks head*(I traded Serenity for the 3 series' of Black Books with a friend and was instantly addicted from the line 'are they leather bound pounds?' and fell even more in love with both Dylan Moran and that bastard character Bernard as the series progressed.)

Anyway, this is a The Actor thread and I am going off on tangents: I almost pissed myself laughing just because of the look on his face on the front cover and thought 'yes, i shall buy it' because *giggle squee* it has Dylan Moran!!!! and he's looking so funny and cute (v. fangirl of me I know)

Anyway, YES, the ambition to buy this DVD was first and foremost encountered because it had Dylan Moran: the comedic genius.....who I find strangely alluring.....hmmmmmm.

...Stupid sexy drunks.....

I had similar notions up until I actually watched the DVD and then I realised what a disappointment it turned out to be for all concerned. Dylan is wasted on a banal script

reply

... i just think he s funny actually

.
my
mother hoped that

i would die etcetera

reply

YES. YES YES YES. That is the only reason i watched this film and i loved it, ok? I absoultly fruckin loved it.

reply

Yep, bought it for that sole reason and didn't laugh once :(

You must have no sense of humour then cos Black Book sis the best! Dylan M and Bill B are two of th eufnniest people ever!

reply

Guilty as charged. Fortunately Moran was great even if the movie wasn't.

reply

I bought the dvd through a combination of having watching the totally entertaining Black Books series and how superb Moran was in it; coupled with the fact The Actors was in a bargain bin at our local Asda £2.99.

However, the film was a real let down and not at all funny. But at least Moran got some experience from the project and hopefully he'll learn from it with bigger and better things in the future

reply

I actually founf the movie a bit of a squeal, it wasnt the funny loud kind of thing that you are used to Dylan Moran doing, but i think thats because its not Black, altho that is who most of us are so in luv with, that damned drunk silly Irishman ... *sigh*
Dylan Moran is also a damned good stand up comidian ... luv all the things that he does.
And i am guilty as charged, i did only rent this movie coz it had Dylan Moran in it, hehe*cheeky giggles*

reply

Yep I got the DVD cause the best comedian ever was on the front cover. I thought it was pretty good - bit dry in some parts... maybe I just like it cause Dylan is in it...hmmm

I want to sing kareoke with him!!!

reply

I recone that would be awesome singing kareoke with him, im so swapping parts witht the chick in that flim, lol XD *giggles*

reply

This was not a great film on a comedic or drama level, but as a previous poster said, it was harmless enough and not a complete stinker, Dylan Moran was very liekable and Michael Gambon put in a great performance.

Could of been so much more-it's a shame.

reply

haha yes

reply

I actually thought the film was crap but I did rent it becuase I knew Dylan was in it.He is still a legend.
